Fun Facts:
- Infants have 300 bones when born, but they emerge soon into 206 bones, by the time they are adults!
- Our ribs move approximately 5 million times per year! (Every time we breathe)
- The hands and feet bones contain over half of the body's bones. All of them equal 106 bones!
- ONE in 500 people have an extra rib, so instead of having 24, they have 25.
- Bones are not the hardest substances in our body. Teeth are harder due to enamel!
- People CANNOT control bones! They respond to the muscles which then respond to the bones telling them to move.
- The human THIGH bones are stronger than concrete and can lift up to 30 times its weight.
- Even though teeth are part of the skeletal system, they are not considered to be bones.
- The most commonly broken bone in the entire body is the ankle!
